I am a Registered Nurse with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University. Shortly after graduating, I pursued a career as a labor and delivery nurse and married my college sweetheart. After 12 wonderful years in the Chicagoland area, I began to feel a yearning for the outdoors, reminiscent of my upbringing in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, although sunny Colorado was also calling to us.
We have since relocated to the charming town of Castle Rock, Colorado, to enhance our active lifestyle with our growing boys, Wyatt and Preston, and our German shepherd Moose. We love exploring the mountain towns and embracing new adventures. Colorado has allowed us to fully enjoy the great outdoors—hiking, mountain biking, fishing, paddle boarding, skiing, and snowboarding.
Over the past 15 years, I have worked in a hospital setting as an RN with a focus on maternal health and labor and delivery. I loved empowering women and families during their most vulnerable moments while witnessing the miracle of life. Though I thrived in the fast-paced atmosphere, hospital nursing has its challenges; it has taken a toll on my body and my family.
Throughout my experiences, I began to question:
"Why is the health of our mommas declining, and why do so many patients have comorbidities in pregnancy?"
"Why are these health issues not addressed before conception and birth?"
"Why is modern medicine failing our health in the US, and what contributes to the overall decline in our nation's health?"
"Why isn’t preventative medicine prioritized in our healthcare system?"
"Why aren’t medical and nursing schools teaching the importance of proper nutrition?"
These inquiries reignited my passion for functional nutrition. Those who know me well would say that I've always been a strong advocate for clean eating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through diet, exercise, and stress management.
I eventually left bedside nursing to pursue a certification in Functional Nutrition through the Functional Nutrition Alliance. This approach to preventative medicine gets to the root causes of many conditions that so many face today. I have fallen in love with the philosophy of functional medicine and functional nutrition, which I believe marks a significant paradigm shift in healthcare.
We often overlook the critical principle that "Food is Medicine." Research indicates that our dietary habits can significantly influence disease risk. While some foods may exacerbate chronic health conditions, others offer strong medicinal and protective benefits.
I would be thrilled to partner with you, tailoring a program specifically to your needs, to help shift your health back into harmony through a holistic nursing approach. I want to empower you to reclaim your health and live a life filled with energy and vitality!
Much Love,
